Should we join one affiliate program or more than one...

Hi all

I am starting off in affiliate marketing..Got some really gud niches in mind..But i am not sure about starting with too many products at once and from different programs....Although i know the niches are good, but i i don't if i will handle all the programs at once...What would you suggest???

As an affiliate marketer, i have always tried to manage multiple programs.... Because I somehow feel that just doing with one affiliate program ,can lead to losses together or obviously profits together.. But i feel safer with a diversified portfolio ... This gives me more flexibility....And generally even if i lose on one program , i gain on the other....  Though in your case since you are a newbie, i d suggest start of with one program only , and one product ..then move onto different programs...

I d say that before you  join all the best affiliate programs you see, try to pick a single good affiliate program first. Take some time to learn the marketing techniques and see which ones actually help bring you sales. It is possible to fail with your choice of affiliate program prompting you to change affiliate program until you find the right one. It becomes more of a hassle if you change multiple affiliate programs all at once. Start with just one to be safe.
            When you are choosing your first affiliate program, it should be something that matches your website content. The same should apply to your second affiliate program as well. But, one thing to note is while the second affiliate program should be related with the first program, it shouldn’t directly compete with the other.

yeah i agree with Jeremy....Initially start off learning the basics of Affiliate...You mentioned you have good ideas about niches.. once you get a foothold then you can use these products...

When you launch as a merchant on multiple networks , you open yourself up to major potential fraud issues due to the fact that some networks don’t screen their affiliate properly. Also, most 2nd and 3rd tier networks are primarily email marketing/publisher driven, so unless the merchant is ok with email marketing it’s not really a viable option..meaning no real traffic or revenue anyways with most of them from my experience.

I wouldn’t advise it.In my personal experience and from what I’ve seen with merchants that I have worked with… it’s not worth the extra effort. It’s not worth the dilution of your reports.

There are pros and cons to going with a second (or third or fourth) affiliate network.

It can certainly be an asset to have your affiliate program in more than one network, because while many affiliates join multiple networks - not all of them do so.

If you do have your offer in multiple networks, there can be some pitfalls, such as duplicate tracking.

Also, you have to be sure that you can adequately staff the needs that come with running on more than one affiliate network.

I’d say that you should try it, so long as you’ve tested the tracking and do not have any duplicate tracking issues, as well as enough resources to throw at the added duties.
