One thing that is not mentioned here, that is currently my #1 source of traffic to my website (according to Google Analytics) is Google Images.
I know that personally I make heavy use of the google images search feature, and in addition to the picture I wanted, I land on somebody's website.

Nice point , viral reports are also a great way , but you have to make sure that the report is of high quality . Because ,nowadays , there is so much competition.

Some excellent information in this thread. The techniques that have worked best for me in the past are...

1) Forum Signatures (instant)
2) Video Responses in YouTube (instant)
3) Podcasting (nearly instant, picked up by the search engines within the hour sometimes. I use Traffic Geyser for that technique by the way)

I use squidoo lenses and social bookmarking to generate fastest traffic. PPC is good but not free

You can get a ton of traffic instantly with PTC traffic.

Paid To Click traffic.

This is human traffic too. You can buy 500 hits for $7 or there are plenty of other offers around.

The problem is this sort of traffic is pretty useless - but you may be able to use it for opt in if you have a very brief opt in page.

An offline press release can be amazing

although you never know when it's going to hit
so you can't rely on it.

but say you have a book on romantic tips or
something do a press release around V day
and imagine several or dozens of radio show hosts
doing interviews with you.

This is not only targeted traffic it's pre sold by the interviewer.


but you can be sending out press releases for a long time for this to happen
even when you do it right.


so its not the fastest (unless you hit a homer the first time)

but the results are amazing when you hit

The important point about traffic is that it needs to be targeted.


OK, getting traffic fast is ideal, however, you don't just need a massive amount of traffic.

You need HIGHLY TARGETED TRAFFIC.

How do you get this? By posting relevant content and building your reputation through knowledge.

YOu need to be able to 'know your market' and deliver to them information they are hungry to hear.

Find the places they hang out and participate and you will get lots of targeted traffic. Just throw a heap of crap and the web in the hope that something sticks - is not a good strategy for targeted traffic.

You could get 30 visitors and make more money from them than 5000 visitors.

It is about quality - not quantity.

One way that I love to use to sell affiliate products without paying for PPC is Squidoo. Here you can put up as many mini-sites (called lenses on Squidoo) on as many different subjects as you like .....Squidoo even pay you a percentage of all their advertising income every month for building lenses.
