SEO strategy for beginners
« on: September 07, 2009, 12:34:27 AM »
Hi there

I am about to launch a new site soon, and was wondering if someone can kindly share some of their tips for SEO or a must do-list?

PLEASE!!

I have my own way and this is all I know (no wonder my site is in the 4million ):

1. submit site to google and yahoo.
2. No duplicate content
3. WWW/Non-WWW
4. Rich content/niche.

I think that's all of it, but if there is anything else you can to add onto, then please don't hold back.

Thanks in advance
CHEERS

Ok. Some quick notes here.

You first have to build the onsite SEO for your website. This means creating lots of pages of rich text content. Each page should focus on one or two keyword phrases which get alot of daily searches.

To find these phrases search for "free keyword tool" and put in a word that is related to your website subject. It will come back with a list of phrases based on that word and the number of daily searches.

Just create a page on one of these phrases giving great information and use the keyword phrase about five times. Make sure the content makes sense and not just the phrase repeated several times.

Once you have lots of these pages you need to build up backlinks. Go to other sites related to yours and add your own comments or create a lens on Squidoo etc etc and add a link back to your website.

Again, use your keyword phrases to write articles to submit to article directories and add a link to your website in the signature.

Social bookmarking sites are also a quick and easy way to get backlinks to your website.

The Foundation of Successful SEO

The foundation of a successful SEO program consists of the following building blocks:

* Keyword-rich text. The majority of a site's pages should contain the words and phrases the target audience types into search queries. Pages should appear somewhat focused on these important keyword phrases, and the phrases should be featured prominently on the page. Otherwise, the page won't convert well or receive consistent search engine traffic over time. Keyword research and copywriting for individual HTML tags are a part of this building block.

* Information/site architecture and page layout. Search engines and end users must be given easy access to keyword-rich content. How text, graphic images, and multimedia files are arranged on a page tells search engines and site visitors which content the site owner believes is most important. URL structure and technical architecture figure into that as well.

* Link development. Commonly referred to as link popularity, this is the number and quality of objective, third-party links pointing to a URL or Web site. Of course, not all links pointing to a site are objective, third-party links, but those types of links aren't always the most credible.

Keyword-Rich Text

Since optimization is centered on query-based searches on the Web search engines, many SEO professionals feel SEO's core is text. It's a logical conclusion, since searchers must type text into a search box to receive document information.
