Some people do very well with banners, however I could never make them produce anything. I think it all depends on what you're selling, what sites it's placed on, and whether your ad can attract peoples eyes.

Banners are always work better than the Text links. The human eye is easily catches the banner rather than text displayed.

In the other way...
we can express more with a small banner, rather than writing a few sentences about the product.

In the real-time, you can forget the TAG Line/Caption of company but not the Logo of the company.

Banners still work very well
A lot depends on the context
where , how and where they are placed

eg.
Drop a banner in the middle of a page surrounded by text and it will get more click thrus than either at the top or bottom.

The success of a banner depends on many factors. First, the banner needs to be well branded and designed with taste. The closer to the theme of your website the banner looks, the better it is. Avoid too flashy banner. Also, the banner offer needs to be related to you market.

Hope this help

First it must be noted that we can only know if banners are effective if their effect can be measured and plotted against objectives set up for a particular banner campaign.
Banners are being used by B2C and B2B, and in a variety of scenarios. It would be flawed to lump all internet users into one category and dismiss banners altogether.
For example, in the B2B arena, if a decision maker is on a particular site, they may be looking to be sold to. The key is to target the correct sites, the correct locations within those sites, the correct timing, and finally, measure results over time.
Finally, as a B2B marketer, I have found banners effective in conjunction with other marketing techniques and technologies. There are now tools that can connect banners with news relevant to the copy on your banner.
