Be cautious with reciprocal links ... is it true???

hi everybody...

i was a little confused when i read this a lot over the net..I frequently get requests for a lot of reciprocal links..Could you all tell which are the ones i should take care of???

As far as i think, it is better to have reciprocal links which are quality sites with decent and related niche as your site plus a good content and page rank as well.... I don't think there is any point linking to many sites with high pr which are not that informative....I'll stick with quality rather than quantity...

Reciprocal linking shouldn't be done excessively. Make sure about the placement of your link.

As for me, I consider a few of these:
- Link Page should be indexed in Google or other SE's.
- Check if the page you are linking to is not a bad neighborhood.
- High PR would be great but is not that important for me.
- Relevant and Quality sites.

generally websites with reciprocal linking program , usually fall pretty low on quality scale....It is good to trade links with the relevant sites with same themes... Otherwise there is no use of reciprocal linking with these sites...

hi all,

 In the past use to get around 400 reciprocal links per months for several of our sites. I generally look for reciprocal links to be relevant, no hate or porn sites, no more than 50 links on a page, no dynamic/query strings. If it has a good page rank all the better. I do see that a large amount of these types of links is rewarded by Google .. I will say that one has to cautious of bad neighborhood links...If sites which holds your links are banned ,this can put your site in a difficult position , so have some basic criteria before choosing one..

Its a big myth that exchanging links is bad and affects your credibility with the Google...If the website is related to what you are doing or if they have a category with what you are doing then its ok. What one needs  to avoid is the link building farm programs out there with the promise of thousands of links over night.This will get Google's attention for sure.....You will always have better conversion on sites that are the same topic as yours, not if your website is about fishing products and you are linked to a thousand casino sites...This kind of linking may help you on some search engines, but each search engine is clamping down on any form of spam and this is definitely a form of spam...
