Do mailing list really work?
« on: September 15, 2009, 01:17:38 AM »
I'm interested in your opinion about this.

I have submitted to many mailing lists, sometimes I have been even forced to get interestng info.
OK - I joined and got what I wanted but I dont want to get e-mails which encourage me to buy next e-book or join next service ... this frustrate me.

After few such e-mails I stop reading them and most often unsubscribe.
If really want something I will simply search this.

What about you?

It really helps you a lot pal. I have been using list building sites just to increase traffic to my site. You can search more by just type the word "list builder" to Google or Yahoo.

Your mailing list is very important your visitor is targeted by something that interested them that you had, but visitors don't always make a purchase on their initial visit.

So now you got there e-mail you can remind them and send updates and let them think about it again and it didn't cost you anything to send the e-mail.

From personal experiences, I will say I have succeeded in building some good relationship with some of the people in my list. But I will say am not making sales to commensurate my efforts in building the relationship. Like you observed, I feel good been in the mailing list of some of the internet experts. But the truth is that at times I got fed up since I don't have the time to go through most of their mailss.

What I am enjoying presently now is building my list and socializing in Facebooks and Twitter. As I am enjoying those on my lists too likes it, since it's work and fun. The most important thing is to focus on educating people on your list not selling directly. At the same time you are conscious that you are there for business. When the time is ripe for them they will buy from you. They already see you as a friend.
